My husband and I visited the restaurant for a recent Friday night dinner date night and with friends for a Sunday brunch (there’s also brunch on Saturday). Since we have dined here, Hayward has added she-crab soup, a luxurious concoction made with Atlantic blue crab, house croutons, green onions and Parmesan. A major remodel is underway to transform the old Andrew's restaurant into a fresh, modern American bistro. The lunch and dinner menu offers a starter dish “Poutine,” made with hand-cut house fries, brown roux gravy and white cheddar curds. One of their sandwiches includes the “Eggplant Katsu” made with fried eggplant, roasted peppers, arugula, grilled portobello and roasted garlic aioli, on sourdough. The main dishes include their “Braised Short Rib Ragu'' made with pappardelle, house ragu and Parmesan reggiano. It offers classic brunch dishes with a modern twist, a friendly atmosphere, a warm setting, fast service, and freshly brewed coffee.
It was last owned by Susan and Paul Roth, who were the majority owners along side Andy Reiss, the restaurant's original operator and founder who became a minority owner. "We really wanted to play on the history of that space," Chaney told the Tallahassee Democrat. "Everything that we do is going to be centered in just really gracious hospitality, and so we want people to feel like they're coming home." As soon as one enters, the full-service bar centered in the heart of the bistro and the tall golden shelf of alcoholic beverages draws guests in. Hayward House is steadily tweaking its brunch menu, adding a side of biscuits and gravy and bruléed grapefruit with Greek yogurt, Tupelo honey and house granola. There were four of us on this particular morning and we each had several bites that were scrumptious.

Art displays of animals and abstract paintings in frames of different sizes and molds add an aesthetic touch with the golden accents of the lights, frames, and shelves that bring the place together. We expect to see the restaurant become another top downtown dining destination.
